I thought finishing the marathon would change everything.
Months of training came down to a few hours. The finish line was crossed, the medal was earned, and for a brief moment it felt like the world had changed.
Then came the next day.
The congratulations, the conversations, the excitement, and the realization that life keeps moving. This episode explores the strange space between achievement and identity, and why the moments we work hardest for often disappear the fastest.
Maybe that's exactly what makes them so valuable.
Welcome to Field Notes From The Proving.
The work continues.

What does it actually feel like to run your first marathon?
In this episode of Field Notes from The Proving, I take you through every stage of my first marathon—the anxiety before the start, the confidence of the first half, the loneliness of the back half, the wall at mile 20, and the emotional final stretch that changed me forever.
On March 16, 2025, I completed the Shamrock Marathon in Virginia Beach in 3:40:51.
But this story isn't really about running.
It's about self-doubt.It's about perseverance. It's about continuing forward when every part of you wants to stop.
Whether you're training for a race, rebuilding after failure, chasing a goal, navigating grief, addiction, heartbreak, recovery, military service, entrepreneurship, or simply trying to become a better version of yourself—this episode is for you.
Because the proving isn't finished.
It never is.

I thought the night before my first marathon would feel terrifying.Instead… it felt quiet.
In Episode 25 of Field Notes from The Proving, I talk about driving to Norfolk, Virginia for the Shamrock Marathon, walking into the massive race expo for the first time, crying on the phone because I couldn’t believe I’d actually made it there, picking up my bib, buying race gear, laying out my clothes, eating dinner with my husband, and realizing something unexpected:
The night before wasn’t about pace.It wasn’t about performance. It wasn’t even about proving anything.
It was about one question:
Did I do enough to finish?
This episode is about the strange calm before a life-changing moment — when months of discipline finally become real.
Field Notes from The Proving are short reflections from inside the process of building a life that’s earned. Not perfected. Earned.

Months of training. Two unofficial half marathons hidden inside marathon prep. A 20-mile run on a cruise ship. Then suddenly… the plan tells you to stop pushing.
In this episode of Field Notes from The Proving, I talk about something I never expected to be difficult: tapering. Cutting miles before my first marathon didn’t feel like recovery — it felt like losing fitness, losing momentum, and questioning whether I had done enough. I found myself doubting the AI training plan, searching for reassurance, and wondering if I had already messed everything up before race day.
This is an episode about trust. Trusting the work. Trusting the process. And trusting the version of yourself built through months of discipline.
Because sometimes the hardest part of proving yourself… is believing the proof already exists.

What do you sacrifice when you become obsessed with proving something to yourself?
In Episode 23 of Field Notes from The Proving, I reflect on completing a 20-mile run during a family cruise through Europe while training for my first marathon—and the realization that discipline sometimes comes with tradeoffs.
This isn’t about regret.
It’s about fairness, perfectionism, ambition, and questioning what happens when achievement starts competing with presence.
I talk about:
Running 20 miles on a cruise ship during vacation
The feeling of becoming obsessed with goals
Why high performers struggle to fully relax
The difference between guilt and fairness
Marathon training, perfectionism, and identity
The hidden sacrifices behind discipline
Learning to balance ambition with real life
Because sometimes the cost of proving yourself isn’t physical.
Sometimes it’s moments.

A vacation through Europe.London. France. Belgium. Netherlands. Germany.Family. Drinks. Laughs. Late nights.
And in the middle of all of it…training for my first marathon.
This episode of Field Notes from The Proving tells the story of running 20 miles on a cruise ship while docked in Hamburg, Germany — resetting a treadmill over and over again in 30-minute increments, converting kilometers to miles in my head, and refusing to break the plan no matter how inconvenient it became.
Because sometimes discipline isn’t tested when life is hard. It’s tested when life is good.
This wasn’t about motivation anymore. This was about becoming someone who follows through no matter what.

At some point, training stops feeling like a hobby… and starts becoming your entire life.
In Episode 21 of Field Notes from The Proving, I talk about the moment marathon training fully took over — the obsession, sacrifice, structure, and identity shift that happens when chasing a goal starts consuming everything around you.
January in New Jersey was cold, dark, and brutal. But by this point, I had already signed up for my first marathon and knew there was no turning back. I ran another half marathon effort at race pace (1:51:49 / 8:31 pace), intensified training, and started realizing that every decision in life was beginning to revolve around running, recovery, discipline, and proving something to myself.
This episode is about:
Marathon training obsession
Discipline and sacrifice
Running taking over your life
The psychology of endurance training
High performance identity
Not letting yourself down
Chasing impossible goals
Becoming addicted to progress
This isn’t about perfection.
It’s about proving to yourself that you’re capable of more than you thought possible.
The work continues.

January isn’t where motivation shows up.It’s where discipline is built.
In Episode 20 of Field Notes from The Proving, I break down the real start of my 2025 transformation — not the goals, not the declarations, but the systems that followed.
After writing down my goals on December 31st, January became the proving ground.Cold mornings. Dark days. No shortcuts.
This was the month where everything had to become real:
Building systems instead of relying on motivation
Committing to 12 half marathons + a full marathon
Running through brutal winter conditions in New Jersey
Hitting 11 miles by January 17th
Setting a “dangerous” goal: going from a 1:50 to a 1:30 half marathon
January was about one thing:Proving that nothing would get in the way.
Because if you can build discipline in January…you can build it any time of the year.
This is not about perfection. This is about proof.

What happens when you stop living for external validation… and finally decide to build a life that’s yours?
In this episode of Field Notes from The Proving, I break down the moment everything changed — not through action yet, but through decision.
2025 became The Goal Year.
After proving to myself in 2024 that discipline works, I asked a bigger question:
What would happen if I applied it to an entire year?
This episode explores:
The mindset shift from external validation to internal purpose
Why signing up for a marathon changes your identity
Setting extreme goals (and why that’s not always a bad thing)
The difference between performing… and choosing your own limits
The second “declaration of war” on the old version of yourself
This isn’t about training yet. This is about the decision that comes before everything changes.
🎙️ This is Episode 19 of Field Notes from The Proving — the beginning of Act III.

In this episode of Field Notes from The Proving, I break down the moment everything changed.
After completing two half marathons in 2024, I proved to myself that I could commit to something and follow through. But instead of feeling fulfilled… I still felt empty.
That realization led me to something deeper: a full life audit.
I started questioning everything — my habits, my mindset, my identity, and why I constantly felt the need to achieve more just to feel enough.
This episode dives into:
Why success doesn’t always lead to fulfillment
The dangerous side of goal setting and perfectionism
The moment I realized I was chasing validation, not purpose
How competition and comparison can secretly drive your life
Why I set extreme goals for 2025 (12 half marathons, 2 full marathons, and more)
The truth about wanting to feel proud of yourself all the time
If you’ve ever hit a goal and thought, “Why don’t I feel different?” — this episode is for you.
This is about more than running. This is about identity, control, and becoming the person you actually want to be.
